Ashley Massaro

By Scott Jones

As we all know, the professional wrestling world suffered another loss. Ashley Massaro was only 39 years old when took her own life. Ashley was born May 26th 1979 in Babylon, New York. She began her career in professional wrestling in the Summer of 2005. Ashley was the winner of the 2005 RAW Diva Search. She was awarded a $250,000 one year contract with WWE. Prior to WWE she was a model and attended the State University of New York and received a bachelors of science degree in Communication as well as a minor in Business. Ashley even competed on Survivor, but was unfortunately voted off after only one week. Ashley also made various appearances on other TV shows and music videos. She was one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever met in my life. She loved her fans and loved interacting with them.

Ashley Massaro was reportedly laughing and joking around just days before her passing. This is a prime example, we never truly know what is going on inside someones mind. I myself have attempted suicide twice in my life. I am not proud of those attempts, they were the darkest days of my life. I was very fortunate to have people around me that not only found me during my attempts but also helped get me the help that I needed. We may never know what someone is going through, but it never hurts to check in on people close to you.

If yourself or anyone that you know is having a hard time and may be in need of some professional help there are plenty of options available.  You can reach out to the national suicide prevention hotline at 800-273-8255. You can also text the word HOME to 741741 to be connected with someone in your area as well. Depression is a disease. Its a disease you don't have to fight alone. There are people who care, people who will help you.

You are not alone
